FABBS is a group of highly skilled and determined villagers from Feckenham. We are working together to raise awareness in the community about the proposed applications for Battery Storage Systems & Solar Farms (BESS) that threaten to surround our beautiful precious rural home if we don't take action to prevent it.
Will it affect you directly ? Well yes it will and we will explain why you can‘t be sitting on the fence and expecting this to just go away on its own.
Feckenham Substation provides these companies with an easy way to access the National Grid Network and import / export electricity to basically make money.
Linking in to the Feckenham substation is pretty easy as these companies just have to cross farmland to make a connection. But for Feckenham we will have a constant noise issue for 40 years plus.
By allowing the Battery Storage Companies to use their land, the landowners will enjoy a healthy payday for around 40 years.
The village will get next to nothing for all this turmoil and it will affect our house prices.
Think of battery storage like a big reservoir of energy. These companies buy energy when its cheap or import it via solar panels, then sell it back to the grid at peak times at a higher price. The difference is their profit.
This is brand new technology and it is relatively untested by the companies that are wanting to surround our village with Battery Farms. These companies really do not care about our rural way of life, they just want to make money.
Our extensive research shows that there are so many of these schemes being proposed around the country now that the Nett Zero Targets for 2050 are on track to be achieved already, so these schemes are not required.
At FABSSS, we believe that the best way to keep our village safe from the deluge of Battery schemes is to stop them being built in the first place. Once these companies get one built, then the floodgates will be opened and eventually we will be surrounded by them all the way up to Astwood Bank. Most of these schemes don't mention solar panels, so what will come next after the batteries is a tsunami of applications for Solar Farms to feed the batteries. It’s also worth mentioning the continuous construction work, which will take years to complete on these various sites.
If you live in Feckenham, the majority of your time here is relatively peaceful. Imagine this with a constant drone from these battery storage facilities. It will be like living next to an industrial estate. This is why we have to fight.
Sadly time is not on our side and we need everyone in our wonderfully diverse village to take on board that if we don't object and work together, then this picture below could spell the end of a glorious era for Feckenham.
